Why We Added Sports Massage

Meet Marcus Hale and learn why Serenity Pilates & Wellness added a 60-minute Sports Massage service for active recovery, mobility, and better movement.

- Aug 1, 2026

Serenity Pilates & Wellness has always been built around better movement: more awareness, more strength, and less of the daily stiffness that makes simple things feel harder than they should. Adding Sports Massage (60 min) was a natural next step, and Marcus Hale is the right person to lead it.

Marcus is both our massage therapist and a Mat Flow instructor, which means he looks at recovery through a movement lens. A sports massage session with him is not only for runners, cyclists, or people training for an event. It is for anyone who notices tight hips after long workdays, shoulders that creep upward during stress, calves that fatigue in Reformer footwork, or a back that never quite settles after travel.

The 60-minute format gives enough time to listen, assess, and work with purpose. Marcus may focus on one area, such as neck and shoulders, or follow a larger chain, such as feet, calves, hamstrings, and hips. The goal is not to chase soreness. It is to improve how your body feels when you stand up, walk out, and return to class.

Sports Massage pairs especially well with Mat Flow (45 min). Mat Flow asks for spinal articulation, hip mobility, deep abdominal support, and steady breathing without the feedback of Reformer springs. When soft tissue feels less guarded, those movements often become easier to access. Some members like Mat Flow earlier in the week and massage later; others book massage first so they can move with more ease in their next class.

After your session, Marcus may suggest simple home support: a resistance band for gentle mobility, a cork mat for floor work, or our recovery tea blend when your evening needs a calmer finish. None of it has to be complicated. The best recovery plan is one you can repeat.

If you are unsure whether Sports Massage fits your routine, ask us at the front desk. We can help you pair it with Reformer Pilates, Private Pilates Session, Mat Flow, or your Serenity Monthly Membership.
